WHO WE ARE // WHO WE ARE NOT
In today’s missions landscape, “Business as Mission” (BAM) is a broad umbrella. It can describe everything from a $100M tech company that funds a ministry, to a well-meaning freelancer overseas who uses their visa to stay in-country—but without real economic or spiritual engagement. While both of these may contribute to God’s Kingdom in their own ways, Saltwork fills a very different and highly specific gap.
STARTING AND OPERATING A SMALL BUSINESS IS ONE OF THE HARDEST TASKS SOMEONE CAN DO... WORKING AMONG UNREACHED PEOPLE IS THE OTHER MOST DIFFICULT THING YOU COULD DO. THE ODDS ARE STACKED AGAINST YOU. SALTWORK EXISTS FOR THOSE WHO ARE CALLED TO BOTH .
We Believe in Work That Is:
-
Credible – Not a cover, but a calling. No faking, freelancing, or "coffee shop" identities.
-
Economically Valuable – Jobs that contribute to the local economy, solve real problems, and build trust.
-
Gospel-Driven – Businesses are platforms for mission—not distractions from it.
-
Context-Specific – Each identity and access model is tailored to the cultural, spiritual, and economic reality of the people being reached.

SALTWORK IS NOT
-
A business success story that writes checks to ministries from afar
-
A passive identity used just to “check the visa box”
-
A startup incubator for Christian entrepreneurs who simply want to integrate faith into work
SALTWORK IS:
Saltwork exists to help workers develop real, sustainable, and contextually credible identities that allow them to remain long-term among unreached peoples—not just to stay, but to engage meaningfully and make disciples boldly and confidently.
Our practitioners don’t just love what they do—they are called to serve in high-cost, high-resistance environments, where spiritual warfare is intense, community suspicion is real, and shortcuts are costly. Their “businesses” are vehicles for presence, relationship, and Gospel witness—but they must also stand on their own economically.
